For some of us the wait for another C&C couldn’t have come soon enough, for others, it could have waited another few years. Wherever you stand in your view of the Command & Conquer series, Tiberium Wars brings gamers all new content, coupled with some of the older content we’ve all come to know and love.
From the start, the first thing that grabbed my attention was of course the updated graphics. Playing C& C from its inception way back in the days of DOS, I always enjoy seeing the graphical improvements they’ve made over the years. Tiberium Wars will not disappoint in this area. From the splash screens to the full motion video, all the way down to ground zero and your base.
Now if you’ve ever played a C&C game, you know the general plight you face each and every time you play. If not, unfortunately, it is your standard RTS. Collect your resources, build your base and forces, take the other guys or gals out. However the plus for Tiberium Wars, and the rest of the C&C legacy, is the addition of the FMV cut scenes. For me anyway, while playing the single player campaign, it helps to add to the storyline of the game and keep you involved in the game-play. With actors such as Michael Ironsides of Splinter Cell fame, Tricia Helfer and Grace Parks of Battlestar Galactica who could ask for better acting? O.k, some could, but it does still add to the game. As I stated, the game does primarily remain the same as its predecessors, however, EA has added another race the “Scrin” which makes a brief appearance in the single player campaign and of course is available in the multiplayer game and scrim match types. The Scrin are an alien race hell bent on having Earth’s tiberium for themselves. They bring they’re futuristic arsenal onboard to add some interesting aspects to the game.

.Overall, if you’re a C&C fan, Tiberium Wars will surely not disappoint. However the one place that EA has yet to address in any of the C&C games is the AI. The AI is still one of the worst ever found in an RTS. While testing the AI in a multiplayer game with friends, we set the AI as a medium “balanced” army, which basically had the computer player with a fully functional army within 3-5 minutes that could obliterate three human players at will. Well maybe I’m exaggerating a little, but take my word for it, the AI STILL simply sucks.
