Furry creatures unite! In this wonderful kids game. Over the Hedge brings you to the world of the animals. Hungry little critters go commando into houses to search for food in order to deliver the food to the bear to save their skin (err fur rather.)
This is your typical hack and slash, go find someone or something type game. Of course there is going to be humor in it with these creatures!
The controls in this game were iffy. There is no way to turn your camera view, so you had to angle your character in order for you to see. That wasn't difficult, but it was rather annoying. The action controls are simple enough, although I switched them up a little bit for my liking. Each character has their own unique attack, whether it's throwing a boomerang or hitting golf balls at your enemies along the way.
The audio quality reminds me of the classic South Park game with decent voice acting and comments. With the quick small squeals of the enemies (in this case rats!), the sounds of the weapons banging the heads of the rats is just your basic "Whap!" But it fits with this type of game.
There is much to love in this game because it's very fun, and the characters are cute. (My favorite being Hammy the squirrel, he's crazy!) There are also tons of extras in the game, but they may not be worth finding them all. I think my favorite part of this game is the extra mini game, of Destruction Derby with golf carts! That’s so much fun I probably spent more time playing that than the actual game. Overall, Over the Hedge is a fun game, great, and easy to learn for kids, or adults who love kids games.
